Carter Kench, aka Cringe Carter, Says It Took Him This Long to Get Comfortable With Who He Is (Exclusive)

With a smile from ear to ear, Internet personality Carter Kench, known by his seven million TikTok followers as CringeCarter, is about to take over the social media scene.

“Obsessed with fast food, theme parks, sugary coffee drinks and customizing his clothing with neon colors, Carter brings his unique vlog-style posts to life with a style all his own,” making for content that is truly one-of-a-kind.

“I wanna give a lot of this to COVID, because we were all just in our rooms not doing much, and I decided to just start staying up and never sleeping,” he told Celeb Secrets just moments before his meet and greet at VidCon 2023 in Anaheim last month. “Because of that, I started recording what I did during the nighttime, and that immediately just caught on.”

The 20-year-old gushed, “It was really fun because I felt like when I stopped going to school because of COVID, I was able to start doing this instead. Obviously it worked out, and I just kind of ran with it and fell in love.”

While the viral TikToker is known for creating content that is all across the board, he revealed to Celeb Secrets, “I love videos where I can do things to other people and get like raw, organic reactions. I find there’s like some beauty in just like the natural beauty of that.”

“For example, like I’ll do some pranks on my roommate without telling them and just set up a camera and see how it goes. I love when I don’t know how the video’s gonna end up, if you know what I mean. Those are my favorite types of things because it’s just like the suspense,” he explained.

Carter’s roommate is none other than Mattie Westbrouck, a fellow content creator with 11 million followers on TikTok, and their friendship is truly to die for.

“Being best friends with somebody that you can actually make videos with as well is like the best thing ever,” he dished. “I wake up every morning, and I have someone living with me, and I can go annoy them, and I can make a video out of it. You know what I mean? Like, I can make them breakfast and then record a video, but it’s like not content because we’re just living. It’s like my favorite thing ever.”

“We also do this thing on our balcony every night where we’ll just like sit and kind of unpack how the night went and how the day unfolded, and it’s honestly such a great time. I love them, and I think it’s really nice to be able to share this with somebody like that,” the Georgia native concluded with a smile.

While Carter is definitely a force to be reckoned with within the social media scene, it took quite a few years for him to find his footing.

“It took me about three years to get comfortable just with who I am and being myself,” the social media sensation shared, then he proceeded to offer advice to those eager to begin posting on TikTok, but may have reservations.

“If you think that you have a passion inside of here, try to expand on it and trust yourself, because it’s not gonna lie to you if it’s coming from within… Make sure that if it’s saying something to listen,” Carter spilled.

“Also, be yourself and don’t try to be somebody for the camera, if that makes sense. Be yourself, be authentic and have fun with it, because that’s what this is all about,” he concluded with a grin.
