CelebSecrets4U’s Exclusive Q&A with the Cast of Nickelodeon’s “Supah Ninjas”

Hey CelebSecrets4U readers,

Nickelodeon has a new series that launched earlier last month on the network called, Supah NinjasSupah Ninjas, which is comic-book in tone and cinematic in style, follows three unsuspecting kids who are drafted into the secret world of ninjas. Created by Eric Garcia and Leo Chu (Afro Samurai), the series is helmed by executive producers Garcia, Chu, Nat Bernstein, Mitch Katlin, Brian Robbins and Sharla Sumpter Bridgett (Fred: The Movie) under the Varsity Pictures production banner. In honor of the series kickoff, we sat down with Carlos Knight, Ryan Potter, and Gracie Dzienny to talk all about what its like being on the action-filled series!

Take a read on what they have to say right here:

CelebSecrets4U: For people that don’t know already, what is “Supah Ninjas?”

Carlos Knight: “Supah Ninjas is a family television show about a group of teenagers who are secretly ninjas and protect their hometown, Empire City, from a variety of evil villains.”

CelebSecrets4U: How do each of your characters fit into the storyline of the show?

Gracie Dzienny: “My character, Amanda McKay, is definitely the brains of the operation. In a way I think she is the voice of reason between the two crazy boys! She is very much the all A student and really strives for perfection.

Ryan Potter: “Mike is a low key guy who seems shy and awkward.  But really, since he’s a ninja, he’s cool.”

Carlos Knight: “Owen Reynolds is a funny high school kid who struggles with being a regular teenager by day and a heroic ninja by night. Owen is a very confident young man who feels that he and his friends, Mike and Amanda, should receive some recognition for saving Empire City on a daily basis.”

CelebSecrets4U: Can you each relate to your character in any way?

Gracie Dzienny: “I think I relate to Amanda for sure! We both are very organized and really want to do the best we can at all times.”

Ryan Potter: “We both love martial arts.  I love Japanese anime and manga comic books. I think Mike does too.”

Carlos Knight: “I can relate to Owen in many different ways. Owen and I are both confident in our abilities and we both believe in our potential to be great at something. Also, Owen raps in the show and I have been making music for years. In fact, I’m working on a comedy music album for kids.”

CelebSecrets4U: The show just premiered a couple of weeks ago on Nickelodeon. How has the fan reaction been so far?

Gracie Dzienny: “A few little kids have told me I’m inside their TV!But all my friends and family have been really supportive and have told me they love it.”

Ryan Potter: “Great. Really positive. Fans have been sending messages, tweeting and posting so much support for the show.

Carlos Knight:“The fan reaction to Supah Ninjas has surpassed my expectations. It’s hard for me to believe that kids are tuning into a television show that I’m on every week, but it’s really happening and I’m grateful for the people that enjoy watching me do what I love to do.”

CelebSecrets4U: Why should everyone tune into Supah Ninjas on a weekly basis?

Ryan Potter: There’s nothing like it on TV right now. It’s a fun action comedy for the entire family. It’s like a live action comic book with larger than life villains, heroes we care about and new stories every single week.”

Gracie Dzienny: I think everyone should tune into Supah Ninjas on a weekly basis because it’s the type of show kids have never seen before. It has drama, comedy, action, and a little romance all in a half hour.”

Carlos Knight:Everyone should tune into Supah Ninjas because it is a show that has something for everyone. There is action, comedy, and romance packed into a half-hour show. It is a quick-paced flurry of surprises that intertwine teenage life with superhero responsibility.”

CelebSecrets4U: Did you have any martial arts experience before filming the show?

Gracie Dzienny:I actually did not. I’m a dancer so the kicks and spins came pretty natural to me, but I have started training since starting the show because I enjoy it so much.

Ryan Potter:Yes I’ve trained in White Tiger kung fu for 7 years. I’m still training.

Carlos Knight:I briefly took Taekwondo class to prepare for the show. I was given training in the art of wielding the bo-staff, Owen’s weapon of choice.”

CelebSecrets4U: What can fans expect from the show within the next few weeks?

Ryan Potter:Totally awesome stories with new villains, and lots of exciting twists and turns for the ninjas. There are even new characters coming! Lots of cool stuff.

CelebSecrets4U: If you can have a special crossover episode with any other Nickelodeon show, which one would you choose?

Gracie Dzienny: Hmmmm…that’s a tough one. I’d most likely chooseThe Troop because we could totally help each other find a monster villain!”

Ryan Potter: “SpongeBob SquarePants.”

Carlos Knight: “If I could choose a special crossover episode with any other Nickelodeon show, it would probably be with Spnogebob SquarePants. It would be difficult to film an episode with a cartoon character, but I think it would be fun. Besides, I’ve seen the show and I know that SpongeBob and Sandy Cheeks both have some serious karate skills.

CelebSecrets4U: If you can have any celebrity guest star as a love interest for Mike, who would you choose?

Gracie Dzienny: I don’t know,maybe Zac Efron?”

Ryan Potter:Sophia Vergara.

Carlos Knight:If I could choose any celebrity guest star as a love interest for Owen, I would probably choose Zoe Saldana. Yeah, definitely.

CelebSecrets4U: Since our website is all about secrets, can you share a secret about yourself and another cast member?

Gracie Dzienny: One secret about me and another castmate, George Takei, is that we both are huge musical theatre fans. Every day we play name that Broadway song where he starts singing and I finish the lyrics. I look forward to it every day!”

Ryan Potter:My secrets are so secret I don’t even know what they are!

Carlos Knight: “A secret about me is my interest in clothes and shoes. I might design clothing items in the future. Maybe. We’ll have to wait and see.

In tonight’s episode, “Subsiders,” Owen is bored by the discipline side of Grandpa’s teachings, but can he handle all the action when he tries to save on old friend that has ties to the dangerous Subsiders crew?  Meanwhile, Mike and Amanda cope with the temporary disappearance of their partner and friend.

Here is a preview of “Subsiders” below. Make sure to tune in to “Supah Ninjas” every Saturday night at 8:30/ 7:30c!
