Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D actress, Chloe Bennet, has stepped down from CW’s The Powerpuff Girls reboot. The series, which previously had a fall air date, is reapproaching the project and will be reshooting instead.
Bennet was set to star as Blossom, alongside Dove Cameron and Yana Parrault, who are still involved with the project. Additional cast members in the original pilot include Donald Faison as Professor Drake Utonium, Nicholas Podany as the show’s version of villain Mojo Jojo named Joseph “Jojo” Mondel Jr., and Robyn Lively as Sara Bellum.
Sources informed that the leave is due to scheduling conflicts, which forced the actress not to sign a new deal on the project.

The show was in contention during pilot season earlier this year for a fall air date, but reevaluation led The CW to make more changes. Bennet’s exit comes just a few months after CW CEO, Mark Pedowitz, informed audiences that the live-action pilot was going to be reworked. In June, Dove Cameron herself also explained reasons for their first pilot reshoot.
“The pilot didn’t work,” Pedowitz expressed earlier this summer. “Tonally, it might’ve felt a little too campy. It didn’t feel as rooted in reality as it might’ve felt. But again, you learn things when you test things out.”
