YouTube and Twitch content creator Julien Solomita finally popped the question to long-time girlfriend and former YouTuber Jenna Marbles, whose real name is Jenna Mourey–and she said yes!
Solomita thought about making the announcement on Twitter but ended up making it during a Twitch stream on Thursday instead.
“A little while ago, I asked Jenna to marry me, and she said yes,” Solomita said during the stream. “So we are engaged.”
The couple first started dating back in 2013 and have since posted a lot of content together on different platforms, even hosting a podcast together named the Jenna & Julien Podcast for six years before ending it in August of last year.
Solomita added that the engagement happened “probably longer ago than you think” and then eventually shared that he popped the question on February 28.
“I’m very excited. It feels good to just kinda get the words out cuz I wanted to tell you for a while and I didn’t cuz it was giving me anxiety, and so I just kinda held onto it,” Solomita stated afterward. “I think today I realized it was kinda flipped and it was giving me more anxiety to hold onto it so, there’s the news.”
He then shared a photo of Mourey’s hand with her engagement ring and shared that Mourey then got Solomita his own engagement band to wear so that he could “enjoy the engagement too and be able to look at my hand, so now I have a little temporary ring” which he would take off before streaming prior to the announcement.
Mourey stepped back from the internet and social media back in June 2020 after posting an apology video regarding old offensive content on her page but Solomita still wanted to share the news with their viewers since they had been sharing their relationship with everyone for quite some time.
“I’m very happy, she’s very happy,” he shared during the Twitch stream. “You were all very much a part of our relationship for a long time, and just because you don’t see her anymore doesn’t mean, you know, you still don’t appreciate her and want to know this stuff.”
To make things even cuter, Solomita shared that he asked Marbles, who is Mourey’s 13-year-old Chihuahua, for permission to ask for her hand in marriage.
“He barked at me, I think that might’ve been a yes.”
