Actress Eva Longoria, who plays Gabrielle Solis on ABC’s Desperate Housewives, hosted the 4th Annual Eva Longoria Foundation Dinner on Thursday evening (November 5) at Beso in Los Angeles.
The Eva Longoria Foundation helps Latinas build better futures for themselves and their families through education and entrepreneurship. A Mexican herself, Longoria was driven to start this foundation to empower Latinas to excel in school and college. Eva actually graduated from the Texas A&M University with a Bachelors of Science degree in Kinesiology.
At the dinner, guest arrived for cocktails followed by dinner and a speech given by Eva Longoria, alongside Laysha Ward, President of Community Relations at Target. Huge names were in attendance at the dinner including Mario Lopez, Zachary Levi, Roselyn Sanchez, Judy Reyes, and Amaury Nolasco.
Eva spoke about the launch of the Foundation’s nationwide Latina mentorship network and it’s 2015 Parent Engagement Covering, which brought 40 experts together to find ways to tighten the relationship between a mother, daughter, and their education.
So far, there are currently 25 million Latinas in the US and by 2015 they will make up 15% of the total population. The Foundation works to improve the futures not only of the Latinas they serve, but also of the US as a whole, says Eva Longorias’ team.
Premeir event sponsor Target announced an additional $100,000 contrubution to the Foundation. Other sponsors included HBO/Time Warner, Televisa Foundation, and the Creative Artist Agency.
Eva Longoria will continue to inspire women all over the world to do better for themselves and we love that! If you would like to donate to the foundation visit www.EvaLongoriaFoundation.org
