Class is back in session at Vampire Academy, and these vampires are out for more than just blood. They’re fighting for royalty, respect and survival in the world of half-humans and half-vampires.
The show follows the unlikely friendship of two women, Lissa Dragomir (Daniela Nieves) and Rose Hathaway (Sisi Stringer), as they “prepare to complete their education and enter vampire society. One as a powerful Royal, the other a half vampire Guardian trained to protect against the savage ‘Strigoi’ who threaten to tear their society apart,” according to Peacock.

Peacock unveiled the first trailer for the TV adaptation of Richelle Mead’s best-selling YA book series yesterday (July 21). And while the show doesn’t air until September 15, the streaming service gave fans at San Diego Comic-Con a first look followed by a panel with Julie Plec (Showrunner/Writer/Executive Producer/Director), Marguerite MacIntyre (Showrunner/Writer/Executive Producer), Daniela Nieves (“Lissa Dragomir”), Sisi Stringer (“Rose Hathaway”), Kieron Moore (“Dimitri Belikov”), and Andre Dae Kim (“Christian Ozera”).
In the trailer, Lissa is seen at odds while she prepares for her role as a Royal Moroi, aka a vampire.
Rose questions if this royal position is what she wants to which Lissa shakes her head ‘no’.
“There are a parade of people dying to be on the throne,” Lissa is heard saying to Rose. “The only thing separating this dominion from that fate is me.”
Her supportive bestie and guardian responds, “then go out there and show them all what you’ve got.”
When Lissa worries she doesn’t have what it takes to fill the shoes, Rose says, “then I will get you out, I promise you that.”

Peacock’s remake of Vampire Academy is based on the best-selling series which was first published in 2007 with the sixth and final book released in 2010.
The show is in good hands considering the executive producers are the same women who worked on the hit CW shows Vampire Diaries, The Originals and Legacies– Julie Plec and Marguerite MacIntyre.
“We love the books too,” MacIntyre told the fans at Comic-Con this week. “We kind of picked our way through…if you’re a fan of the books and you’ve loved something in the books…trust us.”
The cast also includes Kieron Moore, Andre Dae Kim, J. August Richards, Anita-Joy Uwajeh, Mia Mckenna-Bruce, Rhian Blundell, Jonetta Kaiser and Andrew Liner.
