Long time host, Chris Harrison, has been benched from returning to Bachelor in Paradise. ABC made this tough decision after Harrison defended contestant Rachael Kirkconnell’s racially insensitive past.
The Bachelor franchise recently announced, that David Spade will replace Harrison as host on Bachelor in Paradise this summer. Several other celebrities will also come in and guest host throughout the highly anticipated season.
Spade’s love for the franchise has revealed itself through his online social media presence, as he often covers the show’s episodes through Instagram stories, Twitter, and even mentioned his fan status on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last March.

Spade’s career has spanned since the 1990s when he made his name on Saturday Night Live. His six seasons on the show jump-started his comedy career. His other popular credits include Tommy Boy, Black Sheep, and Grown Ups.
Will Chris Harrison ever make a return? Since February he has remained on the sidelines. His controversy can be traced to ex-contestant Rachael Kirkconnell, who won her season with Matt James– the show’s first-ever Blacklead.
“I plan to be back and I want to be back,” says the longtime host on Good Morning America in March. “This interview is not the finish line. There is much more work to be done and I am excited to be part of that change,” he told Michael Strahan.
