Too Good to Be True: Nick Jonas to Play Frankie Valli

Oh, what a night it will be when Nick Jonas leads the company of Jersey Boys in a live-streamed event.

Jonas will be taking on the role of Frankie Valli, the lead member of rock band The Four Seasons. And it was Valli himself who confirmed that Jonas will be taking on the role.

On June 7, Valli appeared on The Today Show to promote his new album “A Touch of Jazz” where he spoke about the upcoming production that chronicles his life as The Four Seasons began to make it big in the music industry.

“It’s being filmed for television, and Nick Jonas of the Jonas Brothers is playing Frankie,” Valli said. “It will be filmed, I think, somewhere in Cleveland, and I will be going there to check it out.”

The two share a New Jersey connection with Valli being born in Newark and Jonas being raised about 40 minutes away in Wyckoff. If Valli is right, the production will take place in Cleveland, Ohio, where The Four Seasons were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990.

Jersey Boys opened on Broadway in 2005 and features many of The Four Seasons hits, including “Sherry,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.” It was nominated for eight Tony Awards and won four, including Best Musical. The production ran for 12 years before closing in 2017.

Five months after it closed on Broadway, it reopened Off-Broadway where it will continue after theaters reopen later this year. Clint Eastwood also adapted it into a film version in 2014.

Jonas is no stranger to the stage. As a child, he appeared in shows like Beauty and the Beast and Les Misérables. He appeared as Marius in the 25th Anniversary Concert of Les Misérables in 2010, as Link Larkin in the Hollywood Bowl production of Hairspray in 2011, and as J. Pierrepont Finch in How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying in 2012 replacing Daniel Radcliffe and Darren Criss.

Unfortunately, there is no timeline yet of when this show would premiere but we are begging for it to be soon.
