In less than a year, Doechii‘s musical success has skyrocketed.
The rising star’s mixtape, Alligator Bites Never Heal, captures a rare talent yet gives fans 19 tracks into her one-of-a-kind artistry. The mixtape follows Doechii’s Eurodance-inspired hit “Alter Ego,” her opening for Beyoncé and Doja Cat on tour, and her now four-time GRAMMY-nominated project.
Celeb Secrets’ Lupe LLerenas recently spoke with the self-proclaimed Swamp Princess during the Femme It Forward’s 3rd Annual Give Her FlowHERS Awards Gala in Beverly Hills last Friday (November 8), where she poured all her excitement out about her first-time-ever nominations.

When asked if she would give her younger self any advice, she said, “I wouldn’t tell my younger self anything because, honestly, she’s perfect. She’s on the right track. She’s on the right path and she did it, so I ain’t got no critique.”
In fact, the Florida bred rapper is the most nominated female MC at the The 2025 GRAMMYs, as she’s up for “Best New Artist,” “Best Rap Album” for Alligator Bites Never Heal, “Best Rap Performance” for “Nissan Altima” and Best Remixed Recording for her “Alter Ego (Kaytranada Remix)” featuring JT and Kaytranada.
We also asked her if her peers had ever given her any advice throughout her new career, and she mentioned her Top Dawg Entertainment labelmate, ScHoolboy Q.
“I asked him how do you know when a project is done and he said when you have nothing left to say. I believe that me being honest and vulnerable in my project and having to write until I had nothing else to say,” Doechii says Q told her during the project’s creative process.
Doechii’s success has shown validation early on in her career from other notable hip-hop rappers, such as Kendrick Lamar, who recently crowned her the “hardest” rapper in the game right now when he posted the cover art for her mixtape Alligator Bites Never Heal to his Instagram Stories on October 17.
Of course, Doechii appreciates the praise she’s been receiving because she’s just starting. However, this certainly won’t be the last.
The 26-year-old reposted the Instagram Story and thanked Lamar, saying, “Thank you Dot, you the greatest.” She also said, “Getting your flowers while you can smell them.”
