After making her debut mere months ago, pop artist Sheyda has shown her range and growth after a string of singles and now her debut EP, End of Summer Love. The 5-track EP which dropped last Friday, is a love letter to some of Sheyda’s favorite songs from years past. Including the TLC hit “No Scrubs” and newer favorites like Miley Cyrus’ “Angels Like You” – on which, Sheyda’s voice truly shines – the EP highlights her innate ability to transform a classic into a modern tune, that if you weren’t familiar with, you may be tricked into thinking she wrote it herself.
The clear standout on the EP happens to be the self-penned single “Wish I Could Want You” which she released earlier this year. This time, the song gets the stripped treatment veering from the highly beat oriented original. The all-too relatable lyrics of a man too “ugly on the inside” become the main focus of the acoustic version allowing the listener to connect with the emotional undertones of the single.
