Music festivals are finally a-go again after the long season of being canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2022 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival will return to the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California for the first time in two years and Frank Ocean is set to headline.

In 2020, Coachella attendees were set to see numerous A-list performers – including Travis Scott, Rage Against the Machine, and Ocean set to headline.
The California festival was first postponed to October 2020, then April 2021 before being canceled altogether. Now Coachella has been rescheduled for April 15-17 and 22-24 of 2022, with Scott and RATM still set to headline.
Sadly, Ocean is not able to attend any of the 2022 show dates. Therefore, event co-founder Paul Tollett has already discussed plans to have him headline the 2023 festival.
In an interview with the Los Angeles Times, Tollett mentioned that he typically would not announce an act so far in advance. Still, he wanted to reassure fans of performances after a long year and a half of uncertainty.
“I’m just trying to be as fair as I can to artists and to the fans to make sure that eventually, they get to see everyone that we talked about,” shares Tollett to The LA Times.

Tollett also revealed in the interview that it had been a struggle to keep this show alive and to keep fans coming back. He said that more than half of the original 2020 attendees requested refunds.
Tollett would rather wait to reschedule the show until the pandemic is completely gone to ensure that there won’t be any more cancelations. He doesn’t want the festival to return until fans can have the entire experience.
Ocean has not performed at Coachella since 2012, which happens to be his only Coachella appearance. Accompanied by rapper Tyler, the Creator, he performed his hit “Thinkin Bout You” from his debut album channel ORANGE and swooned over the entire audience.
He hasn’t released any new music since his two singles in March 2020, Dear April and Cayendo, but the music he has already produced is enough to draw in a massive audience.
