Harry Styles Kicks Off His Record-Breaking Wembley Residency With One Direction Nostalgia, Shania Twain & Other Major Moments

Harry Styles is officially back where it all began, and this time, he’s taking over Wembley.

The superstar kicked off his highly anticipated 12-night Wembley Stadium residency on Friday (June 12), launching the London leg of his Together, Together tour with a sold-out opening weekend that was equal parts massive pop spectacle, nostalgic throwback and quintessentially Harry.

The 32-year-old took the stage at the iconic London venue for the first of 12 performances across June and July, immediately making history in the process. The residency has officially set a new record for the most shows performed by an artist at Wembley Stadium in a single year, surpassing Coldplay’s previous 10-show record from their Music of the Spheres tour.

Harry knows how to make a stadium entrance — and apparently, he knows how to accessorize one, too. The singer stepped out for the opening night of his Wembley residency wearing Jimmy Fairly’s The Brooklyn ($148), a retro-inspired frame that gave his look an effortlessly cool finish.

Styles opened the night with “Are You Listening Yet?” from his latest album, Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally., before diving into a setlist packed with fan favorites including “Golden,” “Adore You,” “Watermelon Sugar,” “Music for a Sushi Restaurant,” “Fine Line,” “Treat People With Kindness,” “Sign of the Times” and “As It Was.”

But one of the most emotional moments came when Styles reflected on his journey from a teenager auditioning for The X Factor to becoming the artist standing in front of a sold-out Wembley Stadium.

The connection was especially meaningful because just next door sits Wembley Arena — the place Styles visited 16 years ago when his sister, Gemma, brought him to London for his X Factor audition. That audition ultimately led to the formation of One Direction, forever changing the trajectory of his life.

And yes, he made sure to give his sister a shoutout from the stage. Styles recalled driving the same route to Wembley that he once took for his audition, telling the crowd how much the moment meant to him before thanking fans for allowing him to perform 12 shows at the stadium.

During the show, the string section performed a special medley featuring One Direction’s “Night Changes” and “History” alongside Styles’ solo track “Falling.” For longtime Directioners, it was the kind of unexpected moment that probably had phones flying into the air immediately.

Styles also brought along a very special guest for his London residency: Shania Twain.

The country-pop icon served as the special guest for the opening Wembley dates, giving fans an extra reason to make the first weekend of the residency one to remember. Twain is among the rotating group of artists joining Styles throughout his global Together, Together run, with different special guests appearing in Amsterdam, London, São Paulo, Mexico City, New York, Melbourne and Sydney.

One of the biggest charms of the Together, Together residency is that Styles isn’t simply copying and pasting the same show every night. The setlist features a different surprise song during the encore, and on opening night, Styles brought out Little Freak” from Harry’s House — marking the song’s first performance since 2023.

He also sprinkled plenty of unexpected musical references throughout the night.

“Taste Back” included an interpolation of Underworld’s “Born Slippy,” while “Treat People With Kindness” briefly nodded to Talking Heads’ “This Must Be the Place.” During “Dance No More,” fans also caught a groove inspired by Happy Mondays’ “Step On” and a snippet of Gorillaz’ “Clint Eastwood.”

Another memorable moment from the weekend came when Styles honored the late British artist David Hockney, who died June 11 at the age of 88. Hockney famously painted Styles, with the portrait displayed at London’s National Portrait Gallery in 2023. During the Wembley show, Styles shared a quote from Hockney on the venue’s giant screens, creating a quiet tribute to the artist’s influence and their connection. It was a particularly poignant moment in a concert already centered around art, music and the idea of sharing an experience with thousands of people at once.

While the Harry’s residency at Wembley Stadium is undoubtedly a major career milestone, Styles is also using the Together, Together tour to support the future of live music.

The singer is donating £1 from every ticket sold from his 2026 UK stadium dates to LIVE’s levy, which supports grassroots music venues and emerging talent across the UK. Fans at Wembley were also encouraged to support Music Venues Trust through messages displayed on the stadium’s screens before the show.

The London residency is part of Styles’ larger Together, Together global run, which includes stops in Amsterdam, London, São Paulo, Mexico City, New York, Melbourne and Sydney. His New York run at Madison Square Garden will include 30 shows and marks his only U.S. dates of the year. Special guests include Robyn, Shania Twain, Fcukers, Jorja Smith, Jamie xx, Fousheé, and Skye Newman across select dates.
