Here’s Why Mimi Webb’s Moody Pop Songs Are Catching the Attention of Charli D’Amelio and Music Fans Worldwide

Mimi Webb may only be 19, but her strong and beautiful vocals put her wise beyond her years.

The UK singer/songwriter has such a clear artistic vision when it comes to putting together her music, so it makes sense why people from all over the world are connecting with her singles “Before I Go” and “I’ll Break My Heart Again.”

Earlier this year, TikTok star Charli D’Amelio posted a video to the platform of her singing along to Webb’s debut track “Before I Go,” ultimately skyrocketing the song’s streams and music video playbacks, with over 3.3 million Spotify streams and 500K YouTube views to date.

“It was incredible,” Webb says to Celeb Secrets of Charli’s TikTok. “And so amazing to see people’s reaction to it. Being able to reach out to that many people on my first ever single release just felt absolutely incredible.”

With acoustic versions of the songs out now, Mimi has been using her time in quarantine wisely by writing and recording new music. Set to release more songs this year, the 19-year-old describes the new material as “dark and moody” with “some pop influence.”

Celeb Secrets sits down (virtually) with Mimi to talk about her creative process for “Before I Go” and “I’ll Break My Heart Again,” having Charli D’Amelio as one of her supporters and what type of TikToks she’s watching during quarantine.

You can connect with Mimi by giving her a follow on Instagram at @mimiiiwebb.

Celeb Secrets: What initially sparked an interest in pursuing music? Do you have any artists that inspire you/you look up to?

Mimi Webb: “I think it was being able to entertain people & connect with people , and to allow myself to feel and let all my emotions out in my songwriting , I’ve always been inspired by Amy Winehouse and Adele, so I’ve always wanted to just have that goosebumps effect to my music at all times which really sparked my interest.”

CS: How would you describe your music to someone that hasn’t heard it yet?

MW: “I’d say it’s got a big kick of roar emotion and that goosebumps effect, but also with what’s coming it also has a dark and moody feel to it as well as some pop influence.”

CS: Your debut single “Before I Go” has been generating a lot of buzz — Charli D’Amelio posted a TikTok to it! What was your initial reaction when you saw her TikTok?

MW: “It was incredible! And so amazing to see people’s reaction to it! Being able to reach out to that many people on my first ever single release just felt absolutely incredible.”

CS: Are you on TikTok yourself? If so, who are some of your favorite TikTokers/challenges you’ve seen?

MW: “I am on TikTok, and I’d say I love the makeup challenges. There are some amazing TikTokers that create these crazy makeup looks and I find the transitions so cool! One of these being Emma Norts. I love her!”

CS: If you could have any TikToker dance to your song, who would you choose and why?

MW: “100% Charli D’Amelio. She’s such an amazing dancer by trade and she creates some really lovely dances to absolutely anything which is so cool!”

CS: You have a new single out right now called “I’ll Break My Heart Again.” Can you tell us more about the track and the creative process behind it?

MW: “It’s been a real emotional roller coaster with this one. It really means so much to all of us and was so beautiful to see it come alive. I remember calling my friend up before the studio session and speaking to him about how I was feeling and he was going through a tough time too, so the track was like a release from all the emotions that had been going on around that time for us and the message behind it all was having that back and forth in your mind of where your heart truly belongs.”

CS: How have you been keeping busy during the pandemic?

MW: “I actually had so much writing and recording to do which was really fun, and having my first release coming out while in quarantine was such a crazy experience but gave the song time to shine on TikTok with how many frequent users there are, especially over quarantine.”

CS: What’s next for you music wise? Any new projects we should be on the lookout for?

MW: “Yes, lots of new music on the way! The next drop is going to be a little more of that moody/dark vibe I was talking about so it’s going to be so fun to see how people react to that one.”

CS: Since we’re Celeb Secrets – do you have any secrets/fun facts about yourself (or your creative process) that people wouldn’t know about?

MW: “Hmm, probably the fact that my real name is Amelia! And Mimi has been my nickname forever. But all my best friends call me by my real name though but I love that.”
