I realize that in a world of Snapchat and other disappearing stories, not everything on the internet is meant to last forever. But I’m going to need you to do one thing for me, dear reader, and that’s print out this article on an actual piece of paper, tuck it into the pages of an actual journal, or even use an actual piece of clear tape to tack it up on your bedroom wall. Because if you’re anything like me, you’re going to want to show receipts and prove that somebody said it: the fashion industry needs to stop sleeping on Riele Downs.
That’s right, feel free to leave a permanent, physical trail of me proclaiming this, and refer back to it when Riele finally gets the widespread recognition she deserves.
The Henry Danger actress isn’t just one of my favorite Nickelodeon stars of the moment. And she’s not just a wise and inspirational young talent, though she is that too. Many of her dedicated fans know that the 16-year-old has been sketching and designing her own outfit designs for some time now, and recently turned some of her best creations into real-life red carpet looks for big events like the RDMAs and Kids’ Choice Awards.

Riele styles her own fashion moments, lends her sister Reiya and their celeb BFFs some of her style savvy, and even polishes off looks by doing her own makeup — yet you would think each look she rocks was created by some of the top fashion elite in Hollywood. And unless you already know Riele through her top-rated show on Nick, you may not know much else about her lifelong art and fashion dreams. But you should.

And that’s because one day Riele is going to be showing her designs on a runway at New York Fashion Week. Or running the costume department on a huge network show. Or sketching out custom designs for Hollywood’s hottest starlets. Or anything else that she chooses to do and incorporate her fashion talents. Because that’s the thing: for Riele, she’s going to have the power of choice. She’s just starting out right now and definitely has plenty of time to develop her style and perfect her blend of acting and designing. But I can tell you that you will soon be seeing her in the pages of Vogue, starring in a high-fashion modeling ad or 12, or collaborating with the biggest design houses around.
Right now, you can catch her topping our own best-dressed lists, where we’ll be looking out for her next biggest moves!
