Something legen—wait for it—dairy is nearing upon us: a How I Met Your Mother spin off is fast approaching! To make matters even more exciting, Hilary Duff is set to star in the upcoming Hulu Original series.
In an Instagram clip shared with nearly 17-million followers, Duff spills the tea on her role in the show while opening up about how excited she is to begin this epic project.
Similar to Josh Radnor’s performance as Ted Mosby in the latest series, Duff will recount how she met her husband in conversation with her teenage kids. Dubbed How I Met Your Father, the new episodes will explore Duff’s role as Sophie who looks back at all her most memorable romantic moments with a PG13 lens.
Duff opens the brief clip by jokingly yelling at viewers to “suit up” as a tribute to the unforgettable Barney Stinson (played by Neil Patrick Harris). Then, she goes on to reveal her ecstatic feelings about the announcement. “I truly feel blessed and I can’t wait, so I hope you’re excited just like me,” Duff admits.

“I’m honored and even a little nervous that Carter and Craig would trust me with the sequel of their baby. [Co-creators] Isaac and Elizabeth are brilliant, and I can’t wait to work alongside them and all of their genius,” Duff dished according to a report in Deadline. “Just fangirling over here getting to join the Hulu Originals and 20th families. I realize these are big shoes to fill and I’m excited to slip my 6 ½’s in there!”
The creators and writers behind How I Met Your Mother also chime into the report to express their deepest gratitudes surrounding the opportunity.
Writers Carter Bays and Craig Thomas share some especially touching sentiments: “Kids, I’m going to tell you an incredible story: It’s the story of how two writers got lucky enough to make their dream TV show for nine seasons and now get to pass the torch to an inspired new creative team with their own incredible story to tell, the story of How I Met Your Father.”
