How TikTok Star Emmy Hartman Turned from Viral Sensation to Pop Princess (Exclusive)

After posting a video of her having an emotional breakdown over receiving a traffic ticket in 2017, Emmy Hartman has been a one to watch on the Internet thanks to her sketch antics.

In 2019, the creator took her ~interesting~ content to TikTok, where she would post both hilarious and bizarre clips that clip has racked millions of views to date. With clips that include an “audition to be a piece of lice on Ariana Grande’s head” and crying over a car mouse to multi-part tearful videos over her upcoming LA relocation and of course the resurfacing of the OG traffic ticket video, Hartman has truly made a name for herself online; she has over 2.2M followers on TikTok, 343K on Instagram and on 128K subscribers YouTube!

But sketch comedy wasn’t always her passion — music was — and her viral fame opened the door to follow her true calling.

“I have always been passionate about music. Social media actually gave me a lot more confidence to go and pursue a career in music,” Emmy tells Celeb Secrets during her photoshoot earlier this year in West Hollywood.

She began posting angelic covers to her social media accounts, and an intern at LA artist development company Godmode music sent her videos to one of its top execs, Talya Elitzer, to help jumpstart the creator’s music career. With the help of Elitzer, along with producer Nick Sylvester and songwriter Amy Allen, the 23-year-old released her debut single “STUPID BIG TEETH” under the the project name EMMY.

“I was shown a part of the song that [Amy] wrote and I fell in love with it and ended up finishing it,” the Cleveland native explains to Celeb Secrets. “To me, it’s a song about growth and is personal to me. The beginning of my online presence is very different from who I am now and I want people to see that [with this song].”

Since the release of “STUPID BIG TEETH,” Emmy has been hard at work in the recording studio working on more songs, all while creating content and recording her podcast Emmy and Ian Need Help. While it may look super easy, the Internet personality says there are lots of challenges she’s faced, however, she is confident that pushing herself out of her comfort zone socially and creatively will earn her a seat at the “it table” when it comes to music.

“Everything that has to do with creating your own music is all still very new to me. There is still a lot I have to learn, so I am constantly trying to absorb [from my peers],” she reveals.

“I think people forget that everyone has goals and interests before even starting on social media. Having a large following is obviously very helpful when it comes to wanting to do certain things in entertainment, but I do understand why people view it the way they do when influencers get into music because there is an advantage when you have a following.”
