iCarly Reboot Will Address The Absence of Jennette McCurdy

The iCarly reboot is just around the corner and we are counting down the days down to watch!

The original series premiered on Nickelodeon in 2007 and ended in 2012. Who knew nine years later we would be blessed with seeing our favorite characters on our television screens again! However, there’s a catch…one of our favorite characters will be missing.

The iCarly revival will revolve around Carly, in her 20s – making a return to her internet roots with Jerry Trainor and Nathan Kress. The show will also involve a new cast member Laci Mosley, who plays “Harper,” Carly’s best friend and aspiring stylist who dresses up Carly in the series.

Sadly, Jennette McCurdy, who played “Sam Pucket” on the original show, won’t be in the revival and we already miss her sock full of butter!

Miranda Cosgrove confirmed to the public that the show will address Jennette’s character within the storylines. “Definitely, we touch a lot on the whole relationship with Sam and where Sam’s at in the pilot episode.” she shares with Entertainment Weekly.  She later adds that Sam will also be mentioned throughout the season in a few references.

“We all called her separately and we really wanted her to be a part of it, but at the same time I’m happy for her because I know that she’s her life taken her in a different direction and that she’s really enjoying what she’s doing right now,” Cosgrove also revealed to E! News

What is Jennette up to now?

Jennette has created her own podcast called, Empty Inside, where she revealed why she decided to quit acting as she stated, “My mom put me in it when I was 6 and by sort of age, I guess, 10 or 11, I was the main financial support for my family. My family didn’t have a lot of money, and this was the way out, which I actually think was helpful in driving me to some degree of success.”

She also goes into detail to talk about how she resented her acting career because she felt unfulfilled by her roles and felt embarrassed by them.

Since the original series ended, Jennette has also directed a few films, The Grave, Strong Independent Women and The McCurdys.
