It’s crazy to think that its been over a year since we were introduced to the junior lifeguards and all of the drama that came with Netflix’s popular series Malibu Rescue!
With stay-at-home orders back in effect, we constantly find ourselves scrolling through Netflix to find some new shows and movies to add to our binge list while riding out the quarantine. Of course Malibu Rescue is at the top of our list for things to watch, and Jackie R. Jacobson, who plays Dylan on the show, calls it a “fun, exciting feel-good show” that is “great to watch in quarantine.”
For those of you who don’t know, Malibu Rescue follows a ragtag group of aspiring junior lifeguards from The Valley as they compete against the snobby local kids for bragging rights and the ultimate tower at Malibu beach. After staking their claim on Malibu Beach, the eight-episode series chronicles Tyler (played by Ricardo Hurtado), Dylan (Jacobson), Eric (played by Alkoya Brunson), Lizzie (played by Abby Donnelly) and Gina’s (played by Breanna Yde) wild adventures that fill their days in the sun.
And after you finish the film and the series, you can move on to Malibu Rescue: The Next Wave, which continues to follow everyone’s favorite Junior Rescuers, The Flounders, as they are back at Tower 2. With the International Junior Rescue Championships headed to Southern California, the eyes of the entire planet are on Malibu Beach. But when Team USA falls victim to a bout of food poisoning, it’s up to Tyler, Dylan, Eric, Lizzie and Gina to represent their country in the world’s most extreme lifeguard challenge.

Since wrapping filming, Jackie has been hard at work auditioning for new roles, growing her YouTube channel where she posts all types of videos that include reviewing her favorite restaurants, and keeping in touch with her cast mates who she says she FaceTimes daily. You’ll have to watch the full interview below to hear some of her favorite memories from Malibu Rescue, which costar she’s seen in person since the end of the show, and some behind-the-scenes secrets from filming that you’d never know from watching.
