Audacy brought their sold-out Stars & Strings Concert back to sunny South Florida last Thursday (November 14), and it once again showed how music can unite people to help raise funds for a meaningful cause.
Thousands of country music fans flocked to the Hard Rock Live at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, FL to see artists like Jordan Davis, Riley Green, Parker McCollum, Megan Moroney, Bailey Zimmerman and newly-added Dylan Marlowe perform some of their most iconic and chart-topping songs — along with some surprises — in a unique guitar-pull setting.
Happening only three days after Veterans Day, Stars & Strings made sure to recognize those who serve in the military by donating a portion of ticket sales to Folds Of Honor. Known for providing academic scholarships to the spouses and children of America’s fallen or disabled military personnel and first responders, the event hit home to performer Riley Green who not only grew up with family members in the military, but also creates songs like “Jesus Saves” to honor veterans for their service.
“Both of my granddaddies were in the military, and a lot of our finances go towards Folds of Honor just ’cause I believe in what they’re doing so much,” Riley reveals to Celeb Secrets backstage ahead of his performance.
“To be able to help out the families of all the heroes in the military is something pretty close to my heart. It’s always great to be able to play country music, and when you can do it for a good cause, its even better.”
Jordan Davis was also super excited to return to the Stars & Strings stage after a few years away, as he tells Celeb Secrets that meaningful events closer to the holidays make performances even “more special.”
“To be honest with you, when you kind of start to get into all charity shows and start to do stuff that you’re really passionate about, it makes it, you know, with the holidays coming up, it makes it more special,” Davis shares. “Plus, anytime you’re playing in Florida it’s awesome.”
Calling himself a “patriotic” person, Parker McCollum reveals that it was pretty much a no-brainer when he was asked to come and perform at the event.
“I’m such a patriotic person. I love this country so much,” he spills. “I’ve never served in the military, but I have an immense amount of respect for those that did and are currently doing. Anytime I have an opportunity to do anything that helps them out, I’m in.”
Split into two sessions, each artist played four songs acoustically while sharing sweet anecdotes about the tracks they were about to perform. In the first round, McCollum, Moroney and Marlowe graced the stage to show off their incredible talents. Despite Nate Smith unfortunately dropping out of the show due to illness, fans were still eager to see Dylan fill in and sing songs off his debut album Mid-Twenties Crisis.
As the lights dimmed for the second round, Riley Green, Jordan Davis and Bailey Zimmerman turned Hard Rock Live into an epic sing-a-long when they performed some of their biggest hits and fan favorites.
When it comes to choosing which songs he wants to play live, Zimmerman tells Celeb Secrets that he makes sure to not only include the hits, but also his favorite “Fix’n To Break.”
“I can only play four songs, and they told me I have to play ‘Religiously.,’ ‘Holy Smokes,’ and ‘Rock And A Hard Place,’ and ‘Fix’n To Break’ is my favorite to play,” he laughs. “I’m very, very excited to be here in Florida. The opportunity to sing my songs is cool.”
While we loved hearing Parker, Dylan and Megan’s heartfelt stories and witnessing Riley, Jordan and Bailey’s playful banter and lighthearted humor in between songs, the most epic moment of the night was when Riley brought Megan back onstage for a stunning rendition his buzzworthy single “Don’t Mind If I Do,” which originally features Ella Langley.
