Keke Palmer is hosting the 2020 MTV VMAs!
The entertainment powerhouse said she “heard y’all was tired of 2020, let’s go back to 2008” and posted her Zoom call on Instagram with True Jackson, VP — who is now a CEO — to share that she was hosting the show and wants True to design her dress to make her look like a “snack, sticky and thick.”

“We’re thrilled to have the multi-talented Keke Palmer as this year’s “VMAs” host,” said Bruce Gillmer, President of Music, Music Talent, Programming & Events for ViacomCBS Media Networks. “Keke is an energetic force and a quadruple threat with unmatched comedic wit who will make this year’s show truly unforgettable.”
The exciting host news follows the announcement just two days ago that BTS, J Balvin and Doja Cat will be taking the stage to perform during the live show.
Just last week, MTV announced this year’s nominees for the VMAs and to no surprise, Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga lead the pack with nine nods each, closely followed by Billie Eilish and The Weeknd with six nominations. You can view the full list of nominees here.
Fans can vote for their favorites across 15 gender-neutral categories, including “Video of the Year,” “Artist of the Year,” “Best Quarantine Performance,” and more by visiting vma.mtv.com through August 23, 2020. Voting for “PUSH Best New Artist, Presented by Chime Banking,” will remain active into the show on Sunday, August 30, 2020.
The 2020 MTV VMAs air LIVE from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Sunday, August 30th @ 8PM ET/PT on MTV.
