Leah Kate Is in Her “Dead Sexy Body” Era — And She’s Owning Every Inch of It (Exclusive)

Platinum pop powerhouse Leah Kate is kicking off a bold new chapter—one where the confidence is louder, the hooks are sharper, and the energy is downright unstoppable. Her latest single, “Dead Sexy Body,” is the perfect proof that it isn’t just a song — it’s a strut-you-can-hear.

“It came from this place of finally reclaiming my confidence—physically, emotionally, all of it,” Leah tells Celeb Secrets. “It’s bold, it’s flirty, it’s a little dangerous, and honestly, it’s exactly where I’m at creatively right now: no filters, no apologies.”

With over 1 billion streams, viral breakup anthems, and collaborations with pop heavyweights like Kesha and Steve Aoki, Leah knows how to make songs that hit like a glitter-covered gut punch—equal parts vulnerable and empowering. She’s evolved from writing out of heartbreak to creating from a place of fearless clarity, turning pain into power and making sure every beat drips with unapologetic self-worth. “You don’t need anyone’s permission to be powerful,” she says. “You already are that girl.”

From strutting in slow motion to neon-lit fantasies, to getting life-changing pep talks from Madison Beer while on tour, Leah’s got stories to tell—and she’s only getting started. Oh, and did we mention she casually dropped that “The album is COMING!!!”? Yeah, the new era is officially here.

We caught up with Leah for an unfiltered chat about “Dead Sexy Body,” her dream tour, the art of owning your glow-up, and the surprising “celeb secret” behind her larger-than-life stage persona. Keep scrolling for the full Q&A below and don’t forget to let us know if you’re loving the track by either leaving a reaction at the bottom of the post or by sliding into our DMs on Instagram at @celebsecrets.

Celeb Secrets: Let’s talk about “Dead Sexy Body” – the title alone is iconic. What inspired this song and how does it represent where you’re at right now emotionally and artistically?

Leah Kate: “Thank you! ‘Dead Sexy Body’ came from this place of finally reclaiming my confidence—physically, emotionally, all of it. I’d just gotten out of a toxic cycle where I was constantly second-guessing myself, and writing this felt like stepping into my power. It’s bold, it’s flirty, it’s a little dangerous, and honestly, it’s exactly where I’m at creatively right now: no filters, no apologies.”

CS: The song has this ultra-sultry vibe mixed with serious boss energy. Was there a moment in the studio where you knew, ‘Yup, this one’s dead sexy’?

LK: “Totally. The second the beat dropped and I laid down that first hook, we all looked at each other and were like, okay, this is a moment. It just had that undeniable vibe—the kind that makes you wanna strut in slow-mo. It was one of those songs that wrote itself because the energy was so real.”

CS: You’re no stranger to crafting anthems that feel both vulnerable and powerful. How do you strike that balance when you write songs like this one?

LK: “It’s about owning every part of yourself—even the messy stuff. Vulnerability is power, but I like to wrap it in confidence. I write like I’m talking to my best friend after a breakup, or hyping her up before a night out. That duality—that mix of ‘I’ve been through it’ and ‘I run this’—is what makes a song hit deeper.”

CS: You’ve said the song captures the moment when ‘temptation fades and empowerment takes over.’ What does that transformation look like for you in real life?

LK: “Honestly, it’s that moment when you delete the text before you send it. When you choose yourself instead of going back to someone who doesn’t deserve you. For me, it was about shifting the focus from needing someone else’s validation to realizing I am the prize. That’s the true glow-up.”

CS: If “Dead Sexy Body” was the soundtrack to a movie scene, what would the scene be? Give us the full cinematic fantasy.

LK: “Picture this: It’s night. Neon lights. I step out of a limo in slow motion, dripping in leather, walking into a party like I own it—because I do. My ex is across the room, jaw on the floor, and I don’t even look his way. It’s not revenge—it’s indifference. And that’s the sexiest power move of all.”

CS: We have to talk about your recent collaboration with pop queen Kesha on “ATTENTION!” What was it like co-writing with such an iconic artist?

LK: “Kesha is a force. She walked into the room and brought this fearless, wild energy that was infectious. We just clicked. ‘ATTENTION!’ came from us being fed up with the BS and deciding to scream it into a mic together. She’s iconic for a reason, and it was honestly surreal to create with someone I’ve looked up to for so long.”

CS: You’ve teamed up with everyone from Kesha to Steve Aoki. What do you look for in a collaboration and how do you keep your voice front and center?

LK: “Collaborations are all about energy for me. I gravitate toward people who are unapologetically themselves and push creative boundaries. I always come in knowing my perspective and what I want to say, and if the vibe is right, it becomes this beautiful blend—not a takeover. I stay true to my sound and make sure my voice is loud and clear.”

CS: With over a billion streams under your belt, do you ever stop and have a “pinch me” moment, or are you too focused on what’s next?

LK: “Both! I definitely have moments where I’m like, wait, this many people are screaming my lyrics?! That’s insane. But I’m also always hungry for the next step. I never want to plateau—I’m in this to keep evolving, keep surprising people (and myself).”

CS: You’ve been called a ‘break-up pop heavyweight,’ and we are so here for it. What’s your personal breakup survival anthem—besides your own, of course?

LK: “‘Good for You’ by Olivia Rodrigo is just one of the best.”

CS: Your music has this unapologetic, take-no-BS energy. What’s your message to fans who are learning to own their power the way you do?

LK: “You don’t need anyone’s permission to be powerful. You already are that girl. It’s just about remembering it—and maybe blasting a few anthems to remind yourself. Don’t shrink to make other people comfortable. Take up space, speak up, and wear whatever the hell you want while doing it.”

CS: From “10 Things I Hate About You” to now, how would you describe the evolution of Leah Kate—the artist and the woman?

LK: “I’ve grown a lot. I started writing from heartbreak, confusion, and needing closure. Now I write from a place of clarity and confidence. I’ve learned how to turn pain into power, and I’m way more fearless—both in my music and in my life. The sound’s grown with me, and I’m just getting started.”

CS: What do you feel most ‘dead sexy’ in—an outfit, a mindset, a moment?

LK: “All of the above or everything combined!!!!!!!!”

CS: You’ve toured with Madison Beer, Hayley Kiyoko, and Anne-Marie—girl power overload. What’s the biggest thing you’ve learned from being on the road with other strong women in music?

LK: “Madison Beer I toured with at a crazy time in my life where I was getting so bullied on the Internet. She would voice note me minutes long worth of voice notes telling me to ignore it and that I’m better than that. She really instilled in me and taught me the power of self love and just being able to laugh at all of that. I’m so grateful for her for that because she got me through a really tough time.”

CS: What’s the vibe of your dream tour—setlist, visuals, surprise guests? And are we getting a headlining run soon? Dream tour?

LK: “Think neon chaos meets glam apocalypse. Dancers, lasers, outfit changes, the whole thing. I’d bring out some of my favorite collaborators—maybe even Kesha again if we’re manifesting! And yes, the headline tour is 100% in the works. Stay tuned, because I’m bringing the fire.”

CS: Can fans expect more singles soon? Maybe a deluxe or a new project in the works? Give us the Celeb Secrets scoop

LK: “The album is COMING!!!!!!”

CS: What’s one “celeb secret” about you fans might not know—but totally should?

LK: “I’m actually a huge introvert when I’m not performing. Like, give me a hoodie, a rom-com, and sushi, and I’m good. People always think I’m out partying 24/7, but I recharge in quiet, cozy chaos.”

CS: Finish this sentence: “When I feel like that girl, I…”

LK: “…walk into every room like I own it—and I don’t ask for permission.”
