The queen is finally making her comeback!
On Thursday (June 10), Lorde released the music video for her brand new single, “Solar Power.”
The GRAMMY award-winning artist’s longtime collaborator, Jack Antonoff, is credited on the single as a co-writer and co-producer. Artists Clairo and Phoebe Bridgers are credited for backing vocals – what an exciting musical combination!
To keep the fans updated, the singer occasionally sends out newsletters through email. She sent out an email yesterday (June 10) announcing that Solar Power is the title of her upcoming third studio album. She penned a letter talking about the record and attached a few behind-the-scenes photos from filming the music video.

“The album is a celebration of the natural world, an attempt at immortalizing the deep, transcendent feelings I have when I’m outdoors. In times of heartache, grief, deep love, or confusion, I look to the natural world for answers. I’ve learned to breathe out and tune in. This is what came through,” shares Lorde on social media about the inspiration behind the album.
Earlier in the week, the artist teased fans with the “Solar Power” cover art on her website. At the time, the only text on the site read, “Arriving in 2021 … Patience is a virtue.”
The announcement is a long time coming for the “Melodrama” singer, as fans have been eagerly waiting for her to drop music since she took a break in 2018.
In October 2020, the singer returned to Instagram after a social media hiatus to encourage New Zealanders to vote in the upcoming elections. If they voted, she promised, “And next year I’ll give you something in return.” Looks like it’s time to get that “something” she was talking about!
