Olivia Jade Giannulli, daughter of Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli, is facing backlash after she hints that the 2019 college admission scandal she and her parents were a part of, has taken a toll on her.
A few weeks ago, Netflix released a documentary titled, Operation Varsity Blues: The College Admission Scandal, where it mentions Loughlin and Giannulli’s involvement in the matter – where they were charged and convicted of paying $500,000 bribe money to get Olivia and her sister into the University of Southern California as well as falsely positioning their daughters as college athletes.
Since then, Olivia has spoken out about the scandal and even did an interview on Red Table Talk where she explained that she didn’t understand how wrong the situation was at the time because everyone in her social circle did it, so she saw it as “normal.”
It seems though, that the entire situation has finally taken a toll on her.
The 21-year-old social media influencer posted a TikTok of her sharing a conversation she had with a friend that was also feeling publicly shamed and attacked.
“We were talking about being in the public, and being publicly shamed, and I was like, ‘Well, my situation doesn’t even compare, I’m not even going to start to compare it to yours,’” Olivia said. “And she looked at me and she said, ‘Olivia, it doesn’t matter if I’m drowning in 60 feet of water and you’re drowning in 30. We’re both still drowning.’”
Olivia then continued by saying that the piece of advice is something she thinks about daily and that it has made her realize that everyone is valid in having their own feelings.
The TikTok video now has over 700k views and over 2000 comments with people voicing their opinions on the scandal and Olivia’s response to it.

There were people who think Olivia has never held herself accountable for the situation and needs to learn from the criticism she’s received.
Others were a bit more understanding and believe people aren’t truly listening to Olivia’s words.
But mostly, there’s been a lot of rowing and swimming jokes in response to her.
