Lucy Liu enters the DC Cinematic Universe as the goddess, Kalypso!
Liu will play the antagonist alongside the iconic Helen Mirren as the villainous Greek goddess sister duo, Kalypso and Hespera, in the sequel of Shazam! which will be based on the DC comic, “Shazam! Fury of the Gods.”
Variety reports that both Liu and Mirren do not have an obvious equivalent to their characters in the DC comics, but the pair will be daughters of the Greek god Atlas, who is one of the main sources of Shazam’s powers.
Shazam 2 will feature its original cast, with Zachary Levi playing as the infamous superhero, Shazam, and Asher Angel as his teenage alter ego, Billy Batson. David F. Sandberg will also be returning as the film director.
Not much more has been revealed about the sequel of the film, but we can expect the film to be released in theaters on June 2, 2023.
We can’t wait to see Liu play into her villainous goddess energy with the power she wields!
