It looks like we have a murder mystery on our hands!
On Wednesday, July 6, 20th Century Studios released the first official trailer for the upcoming film, Amsterdam. The highly-anticipated film is directed by David O. Russel, who has created blockbuster hits including: American Hustle and Silver Linings Playbook.
The two-and-a-half-minute trailer is jammed pack with a star-studded cast, mystery, and humor as a trio attempts to get out of an unlikely situation. Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, and John David Washington play a group of close friends that are trying to prove their innocence after being accused of murder. The story is mostly true as it follows a doctor [Bale], nurse [Robbie], and attorney [Washington] band together as they go on this journey of mayhem to prove they did not commit the 1930’s murder.
The trailer begins with a shot of the murdered victim as Chris Rock’s character warns the three leads about who will get in trouble. The trailer then cuts to various scenes as Bale shares, “You don’t get here, without things starting a long time ago. So, two soldiers, and a nurse found ourselves in…”. Robbie then finishes the line as she says, “Amsterdam.”
Taylor Swift, Alessandro Nivola, Andrea Riseborough, Anya Taylor-Joy, Matthias Schoenaerts, Michael Shannon, Mike Myers, Timothy Olyphant, Zoe Saldana, Rami Malek, and Robert De Niro are all a part of the film’s cast.
Many characters, including Swift’s, only can be seen in a quick shot at the end. Fans will have to wait to see what unfolds in Amsterdam when the film hits theaters on November 4th!
