The long-awaited first look of Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of The Ten Rings is finally here and it is better than we could’ve ever imagined!
The release of the teaser trailer came as a surprise to not only Marvel fans, but also to the lead actor of the film, Simu Liu, as well! Marvel dropped the trailer all across social media, surprising the actor with the teaser trailer as a birthday present.
“Happy Birthday @SimuLiu,” the official Marvel account tweeted, “We hope you enjoy your birthday present.”

According to his tweet an hour prior to the surprise drop, Liu was only expecting to reveal a teaser image for the film, captioning the image, “Whoever said that you could only RECEIVE presents on your birthday? Today, I’m giving you your VERY FIRST LOOK at the teaser poster for @ShangChi and the Legend of the Ten Rings!! Coming to theaters September 3rd (trailer drops in a few weeks). WE’RE ALMOST THERE, PEOPLE!!!!”

He was just as shocked as the rest of us when the teaser dropped, replying to the official Marvel account tweeting them, “WAIT WHAT?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!”

Liu was unable to contain his excitement about the teaser, continuing to tweet and even exclaimed spamming with random letters saying, “THIS IS THE BEST BIRTHDAY EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” and even commending Marvel on their clever plan for the release.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of The Ten Rings will be based on the Marvel Comics character, Shang-Chi (Liu) a martial artist who was trained to be an assassin at a young age, but decides to leave that life and escape to San Francisco. Incredible actors Awkwafina, Tony Leung, and Michelle Yeoh are also cast in this film. This is Marvel’s first Asian superhero and the first film that centers around Asian and Asian-American culture.
The film will be released on September 3rd, 2021, and is one of the four Marvel movies that will be released in theaters.
