After her success with her incredible track, “I’ll Break My Heart Again,” Mimi Webb is back with her new single, “Reasons,” exploring a new sound with her stunning voice.
Webb reveals that “Reasons” is one of her darkest songs, representing the feelings of loneliness and finding someone who has the same broken parts as you do, and mistaking that feeling with finding the “one.”
“There’s very raw emotion [in the song],” Webb says, “the lyrics are really put out there.”
The singer/songwriter hopes the song will encourage listeners to realize that being lonely isn’t the worst thing and that in the end, you truly have only yourself to rely on.
“There’s so much beauty that can come out of when you’re in a time of your life like that,” she vocalizes. “There’s a lyric in the song that explains that ‘there is no one else like that than you, and sometimes you’re the only person you can rely on.’ You realize that some of those lonely times are actually where beautiful things are born.”
Along with the release of “Reasons,” Webb dropped a music video for the track and it was her biggest one yet! Set in a warehouse, Webb was dressed and dolled up in high-fashion couture, posed in different angles and settings including a playground swing, in a porcelain bathtub, and rotating on a mirrored circle, which was Webb’s favorite part to film!
“It was quite interesting because I had to lay down and [while] it was moving and going around, I had to look up at the camera,” she explains. “It was quite fun to have mirrors all over me and looking at myself like ‘Ooooh!'”
“Reasons” is just the beginning of new music from the singer! We can expect Webb to release more songs within the upcoming months, showcasing more of her incredible voice and talent.
“‘Reasons’ is definitely one of my most dark songs, but I’ve definitely got that ‘darkness’ coming in from ‘Reasons’ into the new music. All of the songs have their own little thing they’ve got to it,” Webb shares. “[Some of them are] very emotional, big songs and some of them are not, range wise, going crazy all the time. [There are songs] like ‘Reasons,’ that are mid range but the lyrics are from the heart.”
