Minari’s Alan Kim Wins “Best Young Actor” at the 2021 Critics Choice Awards (Watch)

The American drama Nomadland might have snagged “Best Picture” at the 26th Critics Choice Awards on Sunday (March 7), but 8-year-old Alan Kim stole the show and melted hearts worldwide with his emotional acceptance speech.

After winning “Best Young Actor” for his remarkable work in Korean-American Immigrant drama Minari, the adorable performer jumped on Zoom to thank his cast, crew, and family for his mega success. While wearing his tiny tuxedo, the star broke down in tears as he delivered his speech for his very first win.

“Thank you, thank you. First of all, I want to thank all the critics who voted and my family,” says Alan. As he began to name off a long list of family members, a wave of emotion took over the child star. “Oh my goodness, I’m crying.”

Viewers witnessed Alan Kim having a “pinch-me” moment, as he wiped his tears from under his eyes and squeezed his rosy cheeks to help him understand that he wasn’t dreaming. “I hope I will be in another movie soon. Is this a dream? Hope it’s not a dream,” he adds.

Once the breakthrough star accepted his career-altering award, our host Tiffany Goldstein had the opportunity to speak with him on the “virtual” winners’ press room. During the exclusive interview, Alan shared the importance of the award and what it means to him.

“Well, I guess it means a lot because, well it’s like my second – oh wait, No. It’s my first award,” says the rising superstar. Although Kim is making moves in Hollywood for his spectacular acting skills, his secret talent is Taekwondo. So, we didn’t hesitate to ask him about his purple belt that he recently earned 🥋

In fact, he shared with Celeb Secrets that getting his purple belt was a bigger achievement than receiving a Critics Choice Award for “Best Young Actor.” I mean, can Alan Kim get any more pure, innocent, and precious?
