This week, we are introducing you to an up-and-coming artist that goes by the name of Temara Melek.
Temara Melek, dubbed the teen Katy Perry by the UK press, is making her way back home with her original song “Karma’s Not Pretty” that packs a mean pop sugar punch. Recognized by big-named press outlets overseas, Temara is ready to share her talent and music for the first time ever with her fans back home in the US in 2014.
With over 294,000 views on her music video featuring teen heartthrobs Gregg Sulkin and Keegan Allen and a combined social reach of 732,000+ on her social channels, she is poised to be the next big teen pop sensation.
US fans may already recognize Temara from the Demi Lovato “Neon Lights Experience” where she was invited to support the artist out of Los Angeles for one of the world’s first live streaming concerts in conjunction with Ticketmaster which was broadcasted to over 6 million fans worldwide.
CS4U recently chatted with Temara about her current single, performing with Demi Lovato, and what’s next for the rising star. Take a read at the Q&A below. Music video for “Karma’s Not Pretty” under!
CS4U: Can you tell us a little bit about your single, “Karma’s Not Pretty?” What do you want fans to take away from the song?
Temara: “I co-wrote Karma’s Not Pretty with my friend Cassadee Pope (Voice 2012 winner). It is about how my boyfriend cheats on me but then Prince Charming comes along and my boyfriend realized he’s made mistake and wants me back but it’s too late. So karma got him. I want people to take that what goes around, comes around so be careful how you treat people.”
CS4U: Gregg Sulkin and Keegan Allen were special guests in the music video for “Karma’s Not Pretty!” How did that come about? Were you friends with them before the video shoot?
Temara: “I was not friends with Gregg and Keegan before my video shoot but I was a big fan of them both. My manager reached out to them and got them on board and I was so excited! The shoot was really fun and I am so glad to say we have remained friends since.”
CS4U: You recently had the opportunity to open for Demi Lovato at her special live-stream show in Los Angeles… what was that whole experience like? Did Demi give you any advice/tips/etc?
Temara: “That was the greatest experience of my career so far. Demi is such a huge inspiration and her voice is amazing. To share the stage with her was a dream come true and I will be forever grateful to her for believing in me and giving me that opportunity.”
CS4U: What can we expect from you in the future? Will you be releasing new music soon?
Temara: “I will be releasing new music and videos very soon! I have many exciting things coming up in the near future! I have designed a clothing range for an amazing brand and will be touring later this year!”
CS4U: For our readers that haven’t heard about you yet, why should are readers take a listen to your music?
Temara: “I try to make music that makes people want to get up and dance or sing along when they hear it. I also feel people can really relate to my music.”
CS4U: Since our website is called CelebSecrets4U, can you share one secret or hidden talent about yourself?
Temara: “A fun fact about me that many people don’t know about is that I have a HUGE crush on James Franco!”
