After rumblings of Sarver’s poor behavior over the years, the NBA decided to launch an investigation into the alleged poor conduct of the 60-year-old owner. The findings in the investigation include many disgusting actions by the disgraced owner, including Sarver repeatedly using the N-word when describing people of color who work for the organization, as well as sexual harassment towards employees in the organization. Many misogynic comments were also said by Sarver and specifically to pregnant women.
The use of the N-word by Sarver is disturbing, and his remarks to a pregnant employee telling her she will not be allowed to work until she gives birth is also alarming. The sexual harassment findings include Sarver grouping and coming “pelvis to pelvis” with male employees of the Phoenix Suns organization. Other sexual harassment results have Sarver dropping his underwear in front of an employee who was assessing a fitness check on him for no reason. Sarver was also discovered sending pornography to a couple of male employees.
With all of these disturbing actions committed by Sarver, a one-season suspension and a $10 million fine do not feel like a significant enough punishment. Still, at least the league finally decided to punish Sarver after so many years filled with rumors and allegations of his unacceptable behavior.
