Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, lead star of Netflix show Never Have I Ever, will make her feature debut in the upcoming Netflix romantic comedy titled, The Netherfield Girls.
According to Variety, the story will be a modernized version of Pride and Prejudice while also containing elements of iconic films like 10 Things I Hate About You and Easy A.
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen centers on a young woman named Elizabeth Bennet who finds herself in an unlikely romance with the arrogant Mr. Darcy.
The film will be directed by Becca Gleason. Ramakrishnan will star as leading lady Lizzie Bennet. A release date has yet to be announced.

Ramakrishnan rose to stardom after her show, Never Have I Ever, premiered on Netflix in April 2020. Created by Mindy Kaling, the show follows the story of Devi Vishwakumar as she navigates life as a teenager. Season 2 is set to premiere in July 2021.
“The Netherfield Girls” will certainly add to the long list of Pride and Prejudice film adaptations! Who else remembers the legendary portrayal of Lizzie Bennet and Mr. Darcy performed by Keira Knightley and Matthew Macfayden?
