Olivia Rodrigo is one of the most talked about musicians in the industry, and her recent (Sept.12) appearance at the 2023 MTV VMAs did not disappoint.
Just days after the release of her second studio album, GUTS, Rodrigo performed a mix of some of her biggest songs. The buzz-worthy set included vampire and her chart-topping single good 4 u.
Rodrigo has been in the news lately due to many fans discussing whether or not “vampire” is directed at Rodrigo’s former mentor, Taylor Swift.Rodrigo and Swift have seemingly grown apart.
Another reason why this back-and-forth seems to be growing is because Swift decided to have Sabrina Carpenter as one of her opening acts for the historic The Eras Tour. Carpenter and Rodrigo have feuded over the years, due to dating rumors between Carpenter and Rodrigo’s ex-boyfriend Joshua Bassett.

Regarding her performance, Rodrigo was able to shine while performing hits from both of her albums, and the crowd was very fired up to see the young starlet in action. In the midst of the set, there was a moment where a production malfunction seemed to occur, but it turns out that the moment was planned in order for the performance to look like the music video for “vampire.”
All in all, it is fascinating to see the continued growth of stardom in the very young career of Rodrigo.
