You guys should know the drill by now. Since you love our New Music Friday roundups, here is our New Music Friday: K-Edition!
As always, we’ll be sharing with you our favorite Korean music releases of the week ranging from K-Pop, K-R&B, K-Rap, and lots more. Rest assured, all of these will be bops because we don’t do skips around here.
ENHYPEN debuted last November and have been killing it ever since. This week the members; Jungwon, Heesung, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, and Ni-Ki, let us into their world with their second mini-album, BORDER: CARNIVAL, we can’t get enough of it (you can check out our track ranking here).
With a title track like “Drunk-Dazed,” where the members open up about their conflicting feelings towards the glitz and the glamour of this new adventure they’ve embarked on, it makes for a solid introduction track for the rest of the mini-album. The dance-pop beats and synths grab the listener’s attention and leaves them wanting more.
Along with ENHYPEN, girl group ITZY also dropped their new mini-album titled GUESS WHO as well as the music video for their title track “In the morning.” With a total of six new songs on the project, “In the morning,” talks about trying to hide but also share the feelings you have for someone. The music video showcases Yeji, Lia, Ryujin, Chaeryeong, and Yuna‘s incredible dance skills in different filming locations, perfectly mimicking the inspiration behind the song–the popular game called “Mafia.”
The rest of the tracks on GUESS WHO really spotlights the growth that ITZY has done since their debut in 2019 but also continues to push the messages of confidence and honesty that the girls have stood behind since then. With a more stripped-back song like “TENNIS (0:0)” and a fun, upbeat track like “Wild Wild West,” ITZY’s new mini-album has something for everyone.
This week also found a ton of releases from some of our favorite groups and soloists; including BIBI, AB6IX, (G)I-DLE, eAeon; with new releases from pH-1, HEYGIRLS, Kid Milli, HOT ISSUE; and a repackage release from boy group ONF.
