NEZZA is no stranger to reinvention, but 2025 has officially been her year. The Colombian-Dominican powerhouse went from viral headlines to late-night TV, to walking out with Shakira herself on tour — and now, she’s sealing her moment with her brand new single “Tasty,” a glittery, dance-floor-ready track that cements her status as the Spanglish Pop Princess we didn’t even know we were missing.
“I’ve always been such a loud, proud Latina. The chance I get to say that I’m Latina, I do,” NEZZA tells Celeb Secrets in an exclusive interview. “I can’t imagine my music not reflecting it in some way.”
Back in August, NEZZA packed out the Roxy in Los Angeles — her first headline show in nearly two years. But it wasn’t just about the music. In true Capricorn fashion, she made sure every ticket counted for something bigger: 100% of proceeds went to immigration defense nonprofits.
“That was beautiful to see the community come together,” she says. “I wanted to take advantage of all this attention on me right now and sell tickets to a fundraiser before pursuing anything else.”
For NEZZA, advocacy and artistry go hand in hand. Earlier this year, she made headlines by performing the national anthem in Spanish at Dodger Stadium after being told she couldn’t. The bold act, fueled by what she calls “pure heartbreak” for her community, went viral and sparked a cultural conversation.
“I felt this overwhelming need to be protective of the Latin community,” she recalls. “People think I sang it from a place of rebellion, but it really came from a place of heartbreak — like a mama bear instinct.”
That moment changed everything — and the ripple effect still hasn’t fully hit her. “I just met this girl at Alfred’s, and she started crying because her family’s undocumented. She only knew me as ‘the girl from the Dodgers.’ I got in my car and sobbed after that. I still don’t think I’ve comprehended how many people I’ve inspired,” she admits.

Now, with “Tasty” officially out, NEZZA is leaning into her most unapologetic era yet. “This project sounds like it belongs in a Bratz movie soundtrack,” she laughs. And she means it — from the Y2K glam to the unapologetic fierceness, her whole aesthetic screams Bratz doll energy.
“Every time someone tells me I look like a Bratz doll, I’m like, thank you. That’s literally the intention.”
Her Spanglish lyrics don’t just reflect her roots — they’re building bridges. At her Roxy show, NEZZA noticed non-Spanish-speaking fans belting out every lyric in Spanish. “One of my number one comments is, ‘You’re helping me learn Spanish,’” she beams. “That’s the craziest feeling in the world.”
NEZZA’s artistry blends her dancer roots, R&B sensibilities, and bilingual flair into a sound that’s uniquely hers. “If I can picture a music video where I’m like diva down, then that’s the beat,” she laughs.
And while she promises a sad-girl album one day (“Yes, about that public breakup”), right now she’s keeping things sensual, upbeat, and Spanglish. “One of my number one comments is, ‘You’re helping me learn Spanish,’” she says. “At my show, the front row wasn’t even Spanish-speaking, but they knew every lyric to my Spanish songs. That’s the craziest feeling in the world.”

Of course, we have to talk about that Shakira moment. NEZZA, who grew up idolizing the Colombian icon, was personally invited to walk out with her during her tour. “I couldn’t believe it,” she gushes. “Shakira is literally the reason I even liked my curly hair growing up.”
The moment was equal parts nerve-wracking and surreal — especially when a bodyguard suddenly stopped her mid-walk. “I almost slammed straight into his chest!” she laughs. “But it was unforgettable. My second concert ever was Shakira… talk about full circle.”

Beyond the hits and headline moments, NEZZA is carving a lane as a role model for her community — following in the footsteps of trailblazers like Becky G and Kehlani. “I’ll continue to be an advocate till the end of time because of the feeling I get when someone stops me to say thank you,” she says.
Still, she hasn’t forgotten her dancer roots. A trained professional who once performed behind artists before launching her own career, NEZZA is determined to bring choreography back to the forefront of her live shows. “At the Roxy, I literally put the mic down and just danced with my dancers. People were like, what the—? And I’m like, yeah, I’m a dancer, don’t forget!”

With “Tasty” kicking off a new era, NEZZA teases one more single before unveiling a full project. And yes — live shows are on the horizon. “For sure, you’ll find me on a stage next year,” she promises.
For a girl who grew up on Britney, Bow Wow, and Shakira CDs, NEZZA has built her own lane — and she’s driving it full speed ahead. A diva with heart, a dancer with vision, and a Latina artist with unstoppable pride, she’s not just making music — she’s making history.
As NEZZA herself puts it: “I’m in my Pop Princess Spanglish era… and I’m just getting started.”
