Nick Jonas Premieres New Single ‘Chainsaw’ & Its Music Video

Nick Jonas is taking us through his infamous breakup with former girlfriend Olivia Culpo in his new single “Chainsaw.”

The song, produced by Sir Nolan, will be included on the 23-year-old’s upcoming album Last Year Was Complicated, and is, what Jonas considers, the “most personal song” he’s ever written.

“Hopefully my vulnerability speaks to you,” Jonas tweeted Thursday night before the single’s release. “I loved. It ended. I had regret. I wrote a song.”

Jonas also released a music video for the song, in which he is seen walking around an empty home, reminiscing about his former girlfriend (Sara Sampaio) and trying to come to terms with the breakup…which may just include a chainsaw, a sofa and some fire.

“Collaborating with [director] Luke Monaghan was really special as this is an incredibly personal song and the performance in the video had to represent that,” Jonas told Vogue.com. “Also, getting to work with my close friend Sara Sampaio was amazing. Not only is she gorgeous, but her acting skills were definitely on display in her performance.”

According to Jonas’ recent interview with Out Magazine, fans can expect more personal songs like this one, as most of the album will be drawn from the end of his relationship with Culpo.

“It became very clear what it was going to be about, after the breakup,” he said. “I just dove in headfirst and wrote about all of it. I think it was the most meaningful relationship I’ve ever been in.”

“Chainsaw” is available for purchase here and don’t forget to pre-order Jonas’ upcoming album Last Year Was Complicated.
