Billboard and Telemundo announced today that renowned Mexican singer Paquita la del Barrio will be honored with the “Billboard Lifetime Achievement Award” at the 2021 Billboard Latin Music Awards, for an enduring and exceptional career, encompassing artistic and personal contributions that have had a major impact on Latin music worldwide.
A singer of ranchera and bolero music for more than 50 years, Paquita la del Barrio is considered “La Reina del Pueblo” (The Queen of the Pueblo) and an icon of popular music whose songs are characterized by denouncing the macho culture and attitude.The renowned artist will also perform at the coveted awards show.
Past recipients of the Billboard Lifetime Achievement Award include Flaco Jiménez, Jorge Pinos, Los Lobos, Armando Manzanero, Miguel Bosé, Conjunto Primavera, Santana, Los Temerarios, Emmanuel, Intocable, José José, Andrea Boccelli, Roberto Carlos, Marco Antonio Solís, Ricardo
Arjona and Maná.
The Billboard Latin Music Awards will be broadcast live on Telemundo on Thursday, September 23rd, kicking off at 7pm/6c with the traditional red carpet special, followed by the awards show at 8pm/7c.
