Patrick Stump is performing the theme song for Marvel’s new animated series Marvel’s Spidey And His Amazing Friends that’s hitting Disney Junior later this year.
The Fall Out Boy front-runner also serves as the composer and songwriter for the series as fans can take an early listen to the theme song available on Disney Junior Hits Playlist. Although fans will have to wait for the digital soundtrack for Disney Junior Music: Spidey and His Amazing Friends, it won’t be too long as it will be released on Walt Disney Records on September 17.
Of his involvement with the series, Stump said, “When I was approached to write the music for ‘Marvel’s Spidey and his Amazing Friends,’ I was first just excited to hear that Disney Junior was doing this show, and secondly, I think it took me all of 10 minutes to say yes and start writing the theme song in my head. As a lifelong Marvel fan, this is a dream come true for me, and I can’t wait for kids and families, including my own kids, to see the show when it premieres this summer.”
The GRAMMY nominated musician opened up to Entertainment Weekly about how he was able to channel Spider-Man history into creating the theme song as he wasn’t able to see any completed episodes of the show. He was only able to create the theme song based on the descriptions he was given and using past Spider-Man music as inspiration.
“You’ve got the ’90s cartoon, which has a little bit more of a metal, hard rock thing. Then there are the scores. There’s the Danny Elfman score, the Horner score, the Michael Giacchino score. All of those things were swirling around my head in like one minute, you know, and I just sat down and had this explosion of inspiration. Then I just had to scramble to get to the studio to lay it all down. I was so excited at that point.” explains Stump.
Marvel’s Spidey And His Amazing Friends will be the first Marvel full length series created for preschoolers as the plot focuses on Spider-Man‘s journey to discover what it takes to become a hero as he teams up with his friends and other heroes including Black Panther, Ms. Marvel and Hulk to defeat evil foes and protect their community.
The series is set to teach preschoolers the importance of working together as a team and help others as many of the episodes highlight specific themes regarding friendship, problem-solving and cooperation.
Marvel’s Spidey And His Amazing Friends will be produced by Marvel Entertainment and Disney Junior as Harrison Wilcox, known for Marvel’s Avengers: Black Panther’s Quest will be the executive producer as Steve Grover, known for Hello Ninja, will be the supervising producer. Disney Junior’s Muppet Babies’ Chris Moreno and Disney Junior’s T.O.T.S’ Chris Gilligan will serve as the supervising director and consulting director.
