Rising singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist payton has just released his debut EP insomnia, celebrating his birthday with new tracks and a new music video for “way out.”
The EP, which features previously released hits such as “all wrong” and “blame,” is a six-track collection of moody, beat heavy pop/R&B inspired songs that build upon in a new way payton’s already successful song catalogue.
While the strength of the songwriting might be the same, insomnia brings a shift in the vibe of payton’s sound, perhaps due to producer Donny Bravo influence through a more understated, vocally focused R&B feel. With a fun, brand-new music video for “way out” that shows payton attempting a nine to five work life with little success, it’s clear that high quality production on all facets of his music career is key to understanding the success that payton has found.
The 18-year-old payton has found more than just viral success. With over 80 million streams and counting, insomnia comes at a time when payton just cannot seem to miss.
Payton’s debut single in April 2020, “Love Letter,” garnered over 1.5 million Spotify streams in just one week, a massive feat that is immensely impressive for someone just starting out on their music career.
On August 2nd, payton will be celebrating the release of insomnia with a headlining performance at The Echo in Los Angeles at 7PM.
