PRETTYMUCH’S New EP ‘Smackables’ Is Perfect For Your Next Sunset Drive (Review)

PRETTYMUCH is releasing their new and incredible EP Smackables tomorrow and it will give you the best vibes.

The EP includes three songs: “Free,” “Parking-Spot,” and “Stars.” Last Friday, the band dropped “Stars” as a preview of what to expect from this record and to no surprise, they absolutely did not disappoint.

Despite being only three tracks, the EP serves you the perfect beginning, middle, and end. The slow build at the beginning of “Free” to the closing pop vibe sounds of “Stars,” Smackables is an album perfect for your next ride home after a long day, or something to loop to clear your mind while gazing at the sunset.

The first track, “Free,” begins as slowly with soft acoustic guitar plucking playing and sweet synth sounds. The song is reminiscent and it is similar to how “Circles” by Post Malone makes you feel.

The smooth transition to “Parking-Spot” makes you feel as if you’re listening to a story. The song follows the guitar plucking but with more of an electric sound. It’s a perfect coming-of-age movie-moment song.

The EP ends with their previously released track “Stars.” Although the first released track, the song being placed at the end feels like you’re coming to the conclusion of the movie, aka the big iconic drive into the sunset finale.

This is the first EP from PRETTYMUCH after scoring a new record deal with Sire Records and it is only the beginning of a new, independently creative chapter for the group.
