Protester Glues Herself to Court During Clippers-Timberwolves Game

Quite a sticky situation unfolded last night at the Target Center in Minneapolis.

A protestor, now being dubbed the “Glue Girl”, decided to take action during the second quarter of the Clippers-Timberwolves play-in game last night, by covering herself in Super Glue and sticking herself to the court.

The woman walked onto the right-hand side of the court during the game, sprayed a sticky adhesive to the floor, and proceeded to press her hand into it, sticking it to the court. She was eventually ejected from the building by security after resisting.

The incident immediately went viral on social media, and the woman was identified as Alicia Santurio, a Bay Area resident who is a member of an animal rights group known as “Direct Action Everywhere.” After a closer look, it was noticed that Santurio’s shirt read “GLEN TAYLOR ROASTS ANIMALS ALIVE.”

Glen Taylor is the majority owner of the Minnesota Timberwolves, and the owner of an egg factory and farm called Rembrandt Enterprises. Thus, it appears that Santurio flew from California to Minnesota with a custom T-shirt to protest animal abuse, by sticking herself to an NBA court – that has to be a first.

The Minneapolis Police Department has said that Santurio was not arrested following the incident, and charges have not been filed. However, she was given a one-year ban from the Target Center, and if she returns within that period, she will be arrested and charged.

Despite the criticism, Santurio is proud of her accomplishments. “This is an issue no one talks about and now it has a lot of attention on it,” she said last night. “We have to get our message out there and the jokes help propel it.”
