Celeb Secrets: You act, sing, and ice skate — what initially sparked an interest in the arts?

Ellarose Kaylor: “I just love to perform. It is so fun to be another character and also I love to practice something for a long time and then perform it whether it is a dance, an ice skating routine, a play, a film or a song. I love them all.”

CS: How hard is it to balance all three? Is there you favor or prefer – or do you love all three, such as the opportunity you had to do when you played Nala in The Lion King on Ice?

EK: “Yes I love them all. It is super fun to combine them. For ice theater, I get to act and skate and sometimes sing!  My dream would to be to be in a film about an ice skater that sings! I don’t really have a favorite. I like different things about each and I just feel so lucky I get to do them all.”

CS: Can you tell us about your experience on working on the ABC series Schooled? What did you learn from doing the show and how was it different from filming a movie?

EK: “I really loved working on the set of ‘Schooled.’  Everyone was super nice and friendly and the actors are so funny and good at acting! I learned a lot from them all. It was also before COVID so it was easy to be on set. I just shot a film for DisneyPlus during COVID and that was quite a different experience.  There were so many rules and everyone was so concerned but I know it is for the good to keep everyone healthy. The director of the film was so amazing and I met some great friends on set!  Filming ‘Next Level’ was the most fun set I have been on because everyone was like one big happy family. It actually felt like summer camp for 13 days! We were all on a school campus in Santa Monica and we were acting, singing, dancing, eating yummy food and doing pranks on each other!”

CS: On the film Next Level, you got to sing, dance, act, and release original experience; how was it working on this project? What was your favorite memory from working on this project with several talented people?

EK: “Everyone in the cast was so sweet and like family to me.  I was the youngest on set but they all treated me as a friend and they were all so much fun! It was like having a group of older brother and sisters.  I learned so much from them all because they had more experience acting, dancing and singing.  My favorite memory was all the funny pranks we would play or plan to play on each other.  I also loved our lunch breaks because we would all sit together and laugh, talk and of course play UNO!  We always played UNO!”

CS: Do you plan on releasing an EP or album anytime soon?

EK: “I would love to in 2021. I am working on a few new songs and some duets with some friends.  I am continuing to take voice lessons and work on my range.”

CS: You are active with Girl Guild, a community of girls and young women that create a pathway to support and empower girls. Tell us about this experience? What advice do you have for young girls?

EK: “I love that organization. It is really important for all us girls to stick together and support each other.  We have to have each other’s back and lift each other up. I also know there are a lot of girls that are down on themselves or have it harder than others.  I really hope I can one day I inspire them to love themself but I know there is something special about us all.”

CS: There are so many empowering women in the world today creating pathways, is there anyone you look up to or draw inspiration from?

EK: “I would have to say our new Vice President, Kamala Harris. How cool is it that we have a woman VP and she is going to make history for women and girls?!  I also love Ariana Grande.  She has so much talent as an actress and of course singer. She has stayed so sweet and she really does a lot to help out our world and our four legged friends.”

CS: What are your goals for 2021?

EK: “One of my goals is to book a TV series. I am excited about the two films I am working on next year. One is a romantic comedy and the other is a thriller.

I also really want to land my double axel.  I have been working on all my other double jumps and I am pretty consistent, but my goal for next year is to land my double axle. I want to also compete at Nationals if COVID allows it.  Another goal would be to join an improv group.  I would really love to be in an improv group, like the Groundlings!”

CS: Since we’re Celeb Secrets, do you have a secret or fun fact about yourself that our fans wouldn’t know about you? Could even be a fun ice skating fact people may not know!

EK: “Ok here are a few secrets that no one knows.

1.) My favorite YouTuber is Rebecca Zamolo and I was recently at her house and we did a TikTok together. It was literally the best day. I have met a ton of celebs but I was so excited to meet her and I really want to be in her show Game Master Network!  She is so creative and I love how much she puts into her channel to make it real great content.

2.) I love to bake!  I secretly want to be on Sugar Rush. I love it so much.”
