Disney has found their next beloved princess!
Rachel Zegler has been cast in the leading role of Disney’s live-action remake of Snow White. The up-and-coming actress will be making her on-screen debut as Maria in Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story this December.
As reported by Deadline, the live-action adaptation will be directed by Marc Webb and produced by Marc Platt. Webb is best known for his work on The Amazing Spider-Man films. The director praised Zegler’s talent in a statement.
He said, “Rachel’s extraordinary vocal abilities are just the beginning of her gifts. Her strength, intelligence and optimism will become an integral part of rediscovering the joy in this classic Disney fairytale.”

Benj Pasek and Justin Paul will be composing new music for the film. Pasek and Paul are famously known for their musical work on La La Land, The Greatest Showman, and Dear Evan Hansen.
The actress took to Twitter to post a series of tweets reacting to the exciting news. In one of her tweets, she said, “I HAVE MANIFESTED MY ENTIRE LIFE I THINK I THINK.” In another tweet, she posted a photoset of herself with Snow White during a trip to Disney World with a smiley face as the caption.

In addition to West Side Story, Zegler will be starring in Shazam! Fury of the Gods in an undisclosed role. She is certainly booked and busy for the next year!
Production on Snow White will begin in 2022.
