Rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine was taken to the hospital on Tuesday (March 21) after being assaulted by several attackers in a gym bathroom in South Florida.
According to his lawyer Lance Lazzaro, the 26-year-old rapper, whose actual name is Daniel Hernandez, suffered bruising and facial damage.
Lazzaro claimed that the rapper attempted to defend himself, but since he was attacked by three or four individuals who beat him up inside and outside the sauna at the LA Fitness gym completely off guard, he was unable to.
Hernandez’s assailants are even heard stating in a video that was released on Twitter, “Take a picture. I’m gonna be famous now.” While another video surfaced of the rapper covered in blood leaving the gym.

“He had cuts to his face and bruises,” Lazzaro said. It wasn’t until the perpetrators realized the employees heard the disturbance and notified a manager was when they finally fled the scene.
As reported by Lazzaro, South Florida police were contacted, and Hernandez was taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance. However, it is not yet known if the rapper is still in the hospital.
Given that Hernandez was freed from federal prison in April 2020 with a reduced sentence after assisting federal agents in putting Hernandez’s associates (including Nicki Minaj) in prison — some are speculating that may be in relation to his attack.

Hernandez was detained in 2019 and given a two-year prison term on nine charges, including racketeering, narcotics trafficking, and unlawful use of a handgun in connection with his membership in the Nine Trey Bloods gang.
