Ryder Beer is showing everyone that music runs in his family.
The 22-year-old budding artist — and younger brother to pop star Madison Beer — is taking listeners into his world by releasing original music that showcases who he is as a creative.
“I would say I am a creative pop writer and recorder that just likes to have fun and make songs that you could put on maybe when you’re driving late night and you’re just chilling,” Ryder tells Celeb Secrets about his musical direction. “I think [my music] could hit a lot of different aspects… you could maybe even play it at a party, in the car when you’re driving late at night, or even to wind down and watch some TV with some background music. I think it hits a lot of different aspects and it has a little piece for everyone.”
Last year, the Long Island, NY native released his debut single, “Can’t Take It,” to a lot of critical acclaim. And almost a year later, Ryder is back with another original song that’s about to be your new dance floor essential.
Titled “One That Got Away,” Beer’s sophomore single is an undeniably catchy dance-pop ballad exploring the emotional crossroads of a fading relationship. Blending infectious electronic beats with pop sensibilities, Ryder captures the raw vulnerability of coming to terms with love’s possible end, delivering a track that resonates as much on the dance floor as it does in moments of reflection.
With poignant lyrics like, “I’m all for second chances / I hope it’s not too late / no, I don’t wanna let you be the one that got away,” Beer captures the experience of love slipping away. Set against a minimalistic yet energetic beat, the track seamlessly balances an infectious groove with warm, airy synths.
Of its creative process, Ryder sums it up to Celeb Secrets in one word — “fun.” With a hopeless romantic, young love story as its subject, the 22-year-old says the track could be about “past relationships that you felt like were maybe messed up and you wish you could just kind of go back and fix.”
“It’s been awhile since my last release, so I am just happy to get new music out,” Ryder says. “[‘One That Got Away’] hits a lot of aspects that I’ve been through and I’m sure other people could relate to, so I just thought it was the right choice.”
Fans may recognize Ryder thanks to his sister Madison, however, he’s been working hard at music as long as he can remember. Always intrigued by beats and the way music seamlessly comes together, the 22-year-old took up drum lessons and began dabbling into production by using Logic on his computer.
“Growing up, I always knew I could sing, but I never really came out of my shell.” Ryder reveals. “But more recently, I was just kind of like, ‘you know, what if I could just do everything in one?’ So I started singing and I haven’t stopped since. I’m totally hooked.”
Over time, Ryder reveals that he has made music with his sister, however, it’s nothing that has been released. Sharing that they “don’t really look at it as work,” Ryder hopes that one day they’d be able to release material together.
“I think that my creative aspect, beats and drum patterns along with her vocals clash really, really well. We have done some stuff in the past where I’ve produced like a song or two for her. Hopefully down the line that’d be super fun,” he says.
