Sabrina Carpenter took the stage at the 2023 MTV VMAs’ pre-show with a mashup performance of her singles, “Feather” and “Nonsense” at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ on Tuesday (September 12).

The songstress recorded “Nonsense” for her fifth studio album Emails I Can’t Send and became the album’s fifth single after going viral on TikTok. Throughout her Emails I Can’t Send Tour, Carpenter improvised a new set of lyrics for the outro of the fan-favorite song in each city she performed in.
At the VMAs, Carpenter ad-libbed, “He said that it’s bigger than a Moon Man / Guess that means I’m holding it with two hands / VMAs I love you, I’m a huge fan.”
The 24-year-old graced the pink carpet wearing a sparkly white gown, which complimented her blonde locks. Before her performance, she ditched the white gown and appeared in a silver Swarovski crystal fringe dress from designer Cavanagh Baker paired with knee-high white boots.
The songstress recently opened up for Taylor Swift in Mexico – who is nominated for 11 awards at the star-studded affair – including Artist of the Year and Video/Song of the Year for “Anti-Hero.”
Carpenter isn’t up for an award, but will be presenting.
