The very first trailer for Disney’s romantic film Beauty and the Beast debuted exclusively on the morning talk show Good Morning America on Monday (May 23), and needless to say, fans around the globe are wide-eyed with excitement.
The animated-turned-live-action fantasy stars Emma Watson as Belle and Dan Stevens as Beast. Other members of the cast including Josh Gad, Kevin Kline, Ewan McGregor, Stanley Tucci, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Ian McKellen, Emma Thompson, and Audra McDonald. In the trailer, we’re given a quick tour of the castle during what seems to be a time-lapse of what it looked like then vs. now, while the famous ballad “Tale As Old As Time” plays in the background. The scene then cuts to the famous rose as the magical household items are heard discussing whether Watson is “the one.” Belle (Watson) enters the prince’s abode, quickly becoming enchanted with the rose. Although the trailer barely surpasses the one minute mark, it’s more than enough to have us drooling for more.
The original romantic musical first premiered in 1991 and soon became the first animated movie to ever be nominated for an Academy Award under the “Best Picture” category a year later.
The film is set to be released on March 17, 2017.
