Selena Gomez has broken her silence since the fan-fueled drama involving Hailey Bieber.
It’s no secret that the “Calm Down” singer and Hailey Bieber’s husband, Justin Bieber have a rich history together – forcing pop culture fans to take sides between the two A-listers. Most recently, the internet has closely examined their alleged “feud,” to the point where Gomez has now had to openly defend her ex’s wife.
On Friday (March 24) morning, Gomez turned to Instagram to issue a statement that urged fans to stop harassing Hailey Bieber.
“Hailey Bieber reached out to me and let me know that she has been receiving death threats and such hateful negativity,” Gomez wrote in an Instagram Story. “This isn’t what I stand for. No one should have to experience hate or bullying. I’ve always advocated for kindness and really want this all to stop. ❤️”
Initially the major drama erupted after Selena was being dragged for swimsuit photos and Hailey posted a lip-sync TikTok mouthing the words “I’m not saying she deserved it. But God’s timing is always right.”
The comment section under Hailey’s TikTok immediately took fans to speculate it was in regards to Gomez. Following the speculations, Bieber confirmed that the TikTok was not about the singer turned actress.
“Was not directed at anyone,” said Bieber. She went on to delete the comment, which convinced fans otherwise.
It reached new depths after Hailey and her friend Kylie Jenner were accused of ridiculing Selena after she suffered an eyebrow lamination fail, immediately following the original TikTok scandal.
Soon after, Gomez added a comment on an older video of Hailey sticking her tongue out in response to a mention of her bestie Taylor Swift on TikTok. She wrote, “So sorry my best friend is and continues to be one of the best in the game.”
Eventually Selena ended up commenting on a TikTok that was discussing their alleged feud to stress that there is no tension between her and Kylie after the two (Hailey and Kylie) were labeled as “mean girls” for their posts. However, she did not say the same about Hailey.
In fact, it was discovered that Selena was giving love to her followers who had posted videos criticizing Hailey’s treatment of her, right before she deactivated her TikTok account.
