Triple threat Selena Gomez is adding production duties to her list of talents!
It has been reported that Gomez will executive produce a new show for Freeform network with Aaron Kaplan about Latinos in the music industry. Described as a Latina version of FOX’s hit drama series Empire, the untitled project will follow an 18-year-old Latino from a low-income neighborhood in East Los Angeles who has big plans for her future.
The coolest part is that this story line was inspired by a Los Angeles high school student named Ana Cobarrubias.
Kaplan was watching Cobarrubias speak at the Zimmer Children’s Museum Discovery Award Dinner last November, where she received a standing ovation for her empowering speech about determination to break social boundaries and expeditions. This young Latina from East LA will serve as a consultant on the project.
In addition to this untitled project, Gomez is working on a Netflix adaptation of the YA novel 13 Reasons Why.
Selena Gomez will be hitting the road for her Revival Tour with DNCE beginning May 6, 2016.
