Shang-Chi and The Legend Of The Ten Rings is still on top!
The new Marvel film — which follows a master of weaponry-based Kung Fu who is forced to confront the past he thought he had left behind after being drawn into the Ten Rings organization — made around $83.5 Million on its opening day, and $139.7 million opening weekend making it a record-breaking premiere for a movie, according to Deadline.
After being out and topping the box office for four weekends in a row the film has now generated around $363.4 million globally, according to boxofficepro.com.
Although Shang-Chi has had a strong run at the box office, it is predicted that this may be it’s last weekend on top. This could be due to Venom: Let There Be Carnage releasing to theatres on October 1st.
The record-breaking film stars Simu Liu as Shaun, Awkwafina as Katy, Ben Kingsley as Trevor Slattery and more. As of right now, Shang-Chi is only available to watch in theaters, but Disney+ recently put out a tweet saying the movie will be available to stream on November 12. It will be a part of “Disney Plus Day,” which will be celebrating two years of the services launch.
