Simone Biles Will Compete In Balance Bean Finals at 2020 Tokyo Olympics

Simone Biles is making a comeback after withdrawing from the all-around competition and three final events. The gymnast will be competing at the balance beam final tomorrow (August 3), alongside Sunisa Lee.

The USA Gymnastics official Twitter account confirmed the news on Twitter, “We are so excited to confirm that you will see two U.S. athletes in the balance beam final tomorrow – Suni Lee AND Simone Biles!! Can’t wait to watch you both!”

Last week, Biles took herself out of the competition after scoring low on the vault. MyKayla Skinner stepped in for Biles, after almost leaving the Olympic Village.

After stepping in last minute, Skinner won the silver medal with a score of 14.916. In a recent interview with ESPN, the Olympic medalist made it clear that Biles entering back into the competition was still up in the air, and that she couldn’t speak on her behalf. “Yeah, I think so, I don’t know for sure. It’s kind of up to her. So that’s the game plan,” shares Skinner.

Suni Lee will also be competing against Biles, after winning gold in the all-around competition and a bronze medal for bars.

The 18-year-old athlete posted a photo on her Instagram with her gold medal, captioned “OLYMPIC ALL-AROUND CHAMPION. So surreal. I can’t thank you all enough for the love and support. Thank you to everyone who has believed in me and never gave up on me. this is a dream come true WE DID IT.”

She also took to Instagram to share a heartwarming photo of herself and Biles holding up their silver medals. The athlete showed her support and the type of team player she is by writing an encouraging and emotional caption.

“Proud of you & everything you’ve accomplished! Thank you for being a role model and someone I look up to every single day. you not only inspire me as a gymnast but as a person as well. your fearlessness and ability to do the impossible does not go unnoticed, we love you!!.”
